KITA International

Kita International offers a child-centered programme for 3-6 year olds that builds on children’s interests, creativity, natural curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. Our setting offers a caring and stimulating environment where each child's needs are considered and accommodated. Our goals are to nurture the development of the whole child through positive learning experiences, to make the transition between home and the Kita a successful one, to develop confident communicators in English and German, to foster international-mindedness and to help develop the tools and attitudes necessary for life-long learning.

Young children explore their world, develop skills and and learn through play. Play is a child’s most important learning tool. It enables them to make their own connections and construct knowledge. We provide children with learning opportunities by drawing upon and extending their interests, prior knowledge and experiences, designing our daily life at the Kita thoughtfully, ensuring a balance of self-directed and educator guided learning engagements, providing provocation through new experiences and providing time and opportunity for reflection.

As a state recognized Early Childhood Centre, the basis of our educational work is the Berliner
Bildungsprogramm. This programme is enriched by elements of the Berlin International School’s curriculum framework, the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. Sharing the same educational foundation and working in cooperation with B.I.S. enables our children to successfully transition to primary school.

Kita International has eleven homogeneous groups of 3-6 year olds, each with two educators. Children play and learn with supportive educators and other children from around the world.  All children participate weekly in sports and music and have opportunities to spend time in our art atelier and movement rooms. Our main language of interaction with the children is English. During the week, educators integrate German in a playful, authentic way.

Kita International is located on the campus of Berlin International School in the beautiful neighbourhood of Dahlem. We offer care Monday - Thursday from 7:30 to 17:00 and Friday from 7:30 to 16:30.

If you are interested in learning more about Kita International, you are welcome to attend one of our monthly Information Mornings. Information Mornings take place on the first Thursday of each month from 10:00-11:00 a.m., and do not take place during school or public holidays. Please call beforehand or send us an email if you plan on attending.
